2022 marks the 15th year of National Apprenticeship Week, marking the positive effect apprenticeships make to the economy, businesses and company culture but importantly individuals and their development.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022, our marketing team had a catch up with a few of our apprentices in the team so they could reflect on their experience so far.

Project Manager & Implementation consultant, Isaac Edwards

"The apprenticeship scheme through Cubic interactive was one of the best choices I have made! Finishing from sixth form, I wasn’t planning on going to university and felt a bit stuck with what to do as the next step. Since my role within support I’ve learned a whole new set of skills and also gained qualifications that have helped me progress into new roles within the company. My overall experience from starting the apprenticeship - to completing, was such a great experience and allowed me to adapt my skills and learn new stuff everyday which helped me on my day-to-day job."

Software Support Consultant, Kyle Dixon

“My Experience of being an apprentice has been vastly different to how I expected. With Covid it affected class sizes and opportunity to have a face to face conversations. I have enjoyed the practical aspect of being able to get hands on experience from people who have been in the business and sector for many years, it gave me a deeper insight into the working world more than I believe a university could have. The working experience has helped massively with the apprenticeship as I was able to put what I had learnt into practice in the a real environment.”

Software Support Consultant, Sam Baston

"During sixth form there was a large focus on going to university, even making applications mandatory, even though continuing theoretical education for another 3+ years was not what I thought I needed. I felt stuck in regards to what my next move should be, having been led down a very specific path, until I looked deeper into apprenticeships. Since starting my apprenticeship seven months ago, I am very thankful that I did not go down the route that people were telling me go down as I have learned a whole new set of skills that has help me in my current role in support and given a good foundation for further development."

Software Support Consultant, Craig Johnstone

“I chose to do an apprenticeship scheme with Cubic Interactive as I always preferred the idea of experience over theoretical learning, the apprenticeship provided a great mix of both, where I can learn practical skills on the job while also developing my theoretical knowledge through the resources the apprenticeship has provided. I knew I wanted to work within the field of IT but wasn’t aware as to just how broad that field truly is. Since starting my apprenticeship I have learned about countless avenues open to me in this field and I know there are further courses available to equip me with the skills I need to pursue a career in the area I am interested in. I have found that the practical side of the course and actually working for a company has given me a real sense of achievement and progress which has pushed me to want to learn more.”

Software Support Consultant, Junjie Liang

“Becoming an apprentice through Cubic Interactive was one of the best choices I've made. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who didn’t plan on going to university, and is a bit unsure of their next step. Since starting this apprenticeship, I’ve learned something new every day, gained a new set of skills and discovered interests that I never knew I had before. An apprenticeship scheme doesn’t just teach you but also allows you to have a feel of the real working world which is an experience that everyone would benefit greatly from. Quite often, it can place you in a better situation than people who have decided to enroll into a University.”
