Engineering Sketches Prize 2018
Dec 16, 2018

We recently attended the Engineering Sketches Prize Exhibition, run by The Engineering Club and sponsored by WhitbyBird. We have a strong affiliation with the event due to Cubic’s Director, Duncan Hartop, having worked with Mark Whitby, founder of the Engineering Club, previously in his role at WhitbyBird Engineers.

There were more than double the number of entrants and entries than last year, with nearly 50% of Engineering Club members taking part! It was fantastic to see such a flourishing culture of sketching growing within the engineering practice, and the enthusiasm from students and engineers alike.

The judges were looking to award prizes for the best overall sketch and for the best student sketch, along with the winning and commended prizes for the following categories; Concept, Process, Detail and Historical Study. The standard of entries overall this year was much higher than in previous years, and many of the sketches not even mentioned here might have been winners in previous years.

It was great to catch up with some old faces in the engineering industry and to see some fantastic work from experienced and budding engineers and architects. Click here for more information on the event and to see the full list of winners.
